Duck Tape® Creations

By Beth Carlson for Duck Tape® Sponsored Content June 17, 2017

Our Duck Tape® Party was super fun!  One mom said that her girls had such a great time and they are still creating new things with Duck Tape® at home.  The children loved making the Sparkle Bags, Alien water bottles, and ice packs.

Before the party, my boys made decorations for their rooms.  My 8 year old, created a Cubs sign and my 4 year old wanted me to make a Star Wars Death Star.  One little girl came to the party wearing a Duck Tape® hair bow and she also brought a Duct Tape noise maker for her brother’s baseball games.  Here’s a short video of all the fun at our party:

As an elementary teacher, I’m always thinking of ways to help my boys read.  I’m homeschooling my 4 year old for preschool and am teaching him letter sounds and sight words.  I created this learning board for him to learn the basics of reading while having fun with his toys.  Now I find him initiating reading because it’s like play time.  Here’s a clip all about it as well as a chore chart that I created:

Have you ever been frustrated with broken ice packs?  Well, my kids break them all the time and we need them for their boo-boos.  Another reason I like these Duct Tape ice packs is that they are the perfect temp for my boy’s scraps and boo-boos.  Regular ice packs are usually too cold and my boys won’t use them.  Here’s a clip on how to make one:

Sparkle Bags are so fun to make and play with.  They can even be educational for young children to practice writing their letters and numbers.  The Sparkle Bag can also be used for sensory issues because it is relaxing to touch.  Watch this video to learn how to make one:

For my son’s 5th Birthday Party, he wants to have the Toy Story theme.  I’ve decorated water bottles in the past and thought, why not make Alien water bottles?  They are so cute!  Learn how to make them here:

Duck Tape® has been used frequently in my house for many years.  It’s great for repairs of broken toys and fixing pretty much anything my boys knock over.  I’ve made a robot costume, decorated items at birthday parties, and even made a table cloth out of macaroni & cheese duct tape!

We all know that Duck Tape® is great for mending things around the house, but did you know that the original intent of Duck Tape® was to mend items during WWII?  They needed a flexible, waterproof tape to seal canisters, fix windows & vehicles.   Amazing how they have transformed Duck Tape® to be industrial, educational, and decorative!  Duck Tape® helps spark innovation, creativity, self-discovery and exploration!
