Summer Break at Flourish!

Join us for a summer filled with creativity, exploration, and fun! Each week brings a new theme packed with exciting projects and hands-on creative experiences. As always, our camps are rooted in process art, encouraging young artists to experiment, explore, and create in their own unique way!

Teen Public Art Summer Camp 🎨🌆

A camp where art meets impact! In our Teen Public Art Summer Camp, young artists will plan, design, and create a real mural in the heart of downtown! This years mural is going up at a prominent local hub for the arts, Civic Theatre! This hands-on experience will teach them the power of public art, visual storytelling, and collaboration, leaving a lasting mark on their community.

Camp Details:
📅 Dates: July 7th-11th
🕙 Time:10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Monday – Friday)
🎨 Ages: 12+ years old
🎟 Full-Week Enrollment Only—This is a collaborative project, and each day builds on the last as artists bring their mural to life!
🥪 What to Bring: A packed lunch and refillable water bottle
🌞 Outdoor Fun! Weather permitting, lunchtime will include activities like a short walk, or free play in the community garden. Sunblock, hats, or sunglasses are encouraged!

What They’ll Explore:
🎭 Monday – The Power of Public Art

  • Learn how murals tell stories and shape communities.
  • Tour public art in the area and discuss visual communication strategies.
  • Begin brainstorming mural concepts as a team.

📐 Tuesday – Design & Planning

  • Work together to sketch, refine, and finalize the mural design.
  • Learn about scaling artwork and mural-making techniques.
  • Meet with local public art organizations to understand the role of artists in city spaces.

🎨 Wednesday – Prep & First Strokes

  • Begin prepping and laying out the mural at the selected location.
  • Start painting and layering the foundation of the design.

🖌 Thursday – Bringing It to Life

  • Continue painting with detail work, shading, and final touches.
  • Discuss how public art can spark conversations and social change.

🌟 Friday – Finishing Touches & Personal Projects

  • Complete the mural and celebrate with a final showcase!
  • Create stickers, stencils, and buttons to promote personal artistic ideas.

Important Details:
✅ Drop-off camp: Check-in/out within 5 minutes of start and end times.
✅ Ages: 12+years old.
✅ Full-week enrollment required—This is a collaborative project, so participation all week is encouraged!
✅ What to Bring: A packed lunch, refillable water bottle, and clothes that can get messy.At the end of the week, campers will leave behind a permanent public art piece while taking home their own custom stickers, stencils, and buttons—but most importantly, they'll leave with memories of making an impact through art! 🎨✨🌆
