Description
Franciscan Health Lafayette East will be hosting the 8th Annual Race for Kids 5K Run/Walk and Fun Fair on Saturday, June 1 at the hospital campus.
Race day registration and packet pick-up opens at 8 a.m. The Healthy Family Fun Fair opens at 8:30 a.m., with the Kids Dash taking place at 9:15 a.m., and the 5K run/walk starting at 9:30 a.m. An awards ceremony is set for 10:15 a.m.
Activities include:
- 5K Run/Walk (in-person or virtual)
- Kid’s Dash: a non-competitive 50-yard dash free to children under the age of 10
- Butterfly Release: allowing families to honor and remember a lost baby or child
- NICU Reunion: which reunites patients, families, and caregivers of the NICU
- Healthy Family Fun Fair: free fair featuring fun, kid-friendly activities at each table
- Boilermaker Special, food trucks, balloon artist, face painter, and more
Funds raised from the event benefit the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), along with the pediatric physical, occupational, and speech therapy departments at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.
Since 2016, the Race for Kids event has raised over $160,000 to assist patients with miscellaneous cost, purchase equipment such as AngelEye cameras, baby simulators, and therapy wings.
Registration is $30. Children under the age of 10 are free.
All registrations include a race T-shirt and one (1) butterfly for the release (while supplies last).
