Suessical the Musical Jr
Get ready to bounce, sing, and soar through the most fantastical summer adventure with Civic Youth Theatre! This July, we're whisking young performers away to the Jungle of Nool, the Circus McGurkus, and even to tiny planet of Who - where a whole universe of incredible characters await!
Seussical Jr:
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Young performers will:
- Learn showstopping musical numbers filled with whimsy and wonder
- Master jazzy dance moves and creative choreography
- Develop acting skills through playful character exploration of larger-than-life characters
- Make new friends in our theatrical company learning theatre games, movement exercises and creating out of this world props and costumes
- Be part of an unforgettable full-scale production

Welcome to Sound & Story: A Radio Theatre Adventure!
Step into the magical world of audio storytelling where young performers create entire worlds using just their voices and everyday objects. In this unique week-long workshop, students will learn the art of voice acting, discover how to make amazing sound effects (did you know a box of cornstarch can sound like walking through snow?), and create their own radio drama! They'll transform into multiple characters through voice acting, become sound effects wizards, and work together to bring stories to life through sound. The week ends with a live performance and recording session that families can watch and take home to enjoy again and again. Perfect for creative minds, story lovers, and kids who love to make noise with purpose! No previous experience needed – just bring your imagination and voice!
